LovelyPDF unlocks password-protected PDFs entirely in your browser. Enter the password you already know, and pdf-lib decrypts the document and creates a clean, unrestricted copy. Nothing is sent to a server — your file and the password you enter stay on your device throughout.
Many Indian banks (SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis) apply both an open password and an owner password to their statement PDFs. The open password prevents viewing without the password. The owner password additionally blocks printing, text selection, and editing. Even after you enter the correct password to open the file, print and copy may still be greyed out.
Removing the protection with this tool lifts both restrictions at once, giving you a fully usable copy you can annotate, attach, or print. DigiLocker documents and some government-issued PDFs also carry owner-password restrictions — removing them lets you copy reference numbers or print cleanly.
What's the password for my SBI / HDFC / ICICI bank statement PDF?
Most Indian bank statements use your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format (e.g. 15081990) as the password. Some banks use your PAN number in uppercase. Check the email that sent you the statement — the password hint is usually mentioned there.
Does this tool crack or guess PDF passwords?
No. This tool only removes protection from PDFs for which you already know the password. It cannot recover or bypass unknown passwords.
I entered the correct password but the tool says it's wrong — what do I do?
Check for case sensitivity — PDF passwords are case-sensitive. Also verify you're using the open password. A small number of PDFs use encryption not supported by browser-based tools; try Adobe Acrobat Reader in that case.
Is it legal to remove password protection from a PDF I own?
Yes, if you are the authorised recipient and know the password. Removing protection from your own bank statement or tax document for personal use is lawful.
