How rotation works +

PDF rotation is a metadata operation — pdf-lib changes a page's rotation flag without re-rendering any content. Rotation is completely lossless: text sharpness, image quality, and embedded fonts are preserved exactly as in the original.

Live thumbnails of every page load automatically so you can see which are sideways and fix them precisely, page by page or all at once. Drag cards to reorder pages before saving.

Common use cases +
  • Fixing sideways scanned pages from flatbed scanners or phone cameras
  • Correcting Aadhaar cards or KYC documents photographed sideways
  • Rotating intentional landscape pages in portrait documents for correct printing
  • Reordering pages that were scanned out of sequence
Frequently asked questions +

Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality or change its file size?
No on both counts. Rotation is a metadata change — image quality, text sharpness, and file size are identical to the original.

Can I rotate only one page in a multi-page PDF?
Yes. Each thumbnail has its own rotation buttons. Only the clicked page is changed.

I accidentally over-rotated a page. Can I undo it?
Yes. Click rotate in the opposite direction before downloading. Four 90° clicks return any page to its original orientation.

How to Rotate PDF Pages

  1. Upload your PDF — thumbnail previews of every page appear automatically so you can see which pages are sideways or upside down.
  2. Click the rotate buttons beneath any thumbnail to turn that page 90° clockwise or counter-clockwise. Each page can be rotated independently.
  3. Use Rotate All to correct every page at once if the entire document was scanned in the wrong orientation.
  4. Click Download Rotated PDF — the file is saved with your rotation changes applied. Text sharpness, image quality, and file size are identical to the original.

Why use LovelyPDF

Your PDF never leaves your device. Rotation is handled entirely by pdf-lib running inside your browser — no file is transmitted to any server, no copy is stored anywhere, and the process completes without an internet connection after the page loads. This is especially important for sensitive documents like Aadhaar cards, KYC papers, and court filings that must not be shared with third-party servers.

There is no account to create and no software to install. Open the page, drop your PDF, rotate the pages, and download — the entire process takes under a minute with no registration, no email verification, and no watermark on the output file.

The tool works on any device with a modern web browser. Whether you are correcting a sideways scan on your Android phone, fixing a mis-oriented document on an iPad, or processing a multi-page filing on your Windows laptop, the page thumbnails and rotation buttons work identically across all platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does rotating a PDF reduce image quality or increase file size? +

No on both counts. PDF rotation is a metadata operation — pdf-lib changes a page's rotation flag in the file header without re-rendering any content. Images, fonts, and vector graphics remain byte-for-byte identical to the original. The output file size is essentially the same as the input.

Can I rotate just one page in a 50-page PDF? +

Yes. Each thumbnail has its own rotation buttons that affect only that page. Click the clockwise or counter-clockwise button beneath the specific page thumbnail. All other pages remain in their current orientation when you download.

My printer still prints the page sideways after I rotated the PDF — why? +

Some printers and print dialogs have an "Auto-rotate" or "Portrait/Landscape" setting that overrides the PDF's rotation metadata. Open the print dialog, disable auto-rotate, and set orientation to match your document. This is a printer-side setting, not a problem with the PDF itself.

Can I reorder pages as well as rotate them? +

Yes — drag the page thumbnails into the correct order before downloading. Rotation and reordering can be combined in a single download. If you need more advanced page operations such as deleting pages, duplicating, or inserting blank separator pages, use the Manage PDF Pages tool.
