Can I watermark only certain pages?
The watermark applies to all pages. Use Split PDF to separate those pages, watermark them, then Merge PDF to reassemble.

Can someone remove the watermark?
The watermark is embedded in the PDF content stream. Standard viewers cannot remove it. For sensitive documents, also consider password-protecting the PDF.

What opacity works for a DRAFT watermark?
20–30% opacity at 45° is standard — visible without obscuring the document content.

Can I use Hindi text as a watermark?
The tool uses Helvetica which supports Latin characters. Hindi and Devanagari may not render correctly.

How to Add a Watermark to a PDF

The watermark text is drawn as a vector element directly onto each page during the pdf-lib export — it cannot be removed by any standard PDF reader or viewer. However, a user with access to professional PDF editing software could technically remove or obscure it. For documents where strict tamper resistance is required, combine watermarking with password protection using the Protect PDF tool to restrict editing permissions.

Can I add an image or logo as a watermark? +

The watermark tool currently supports text only. To overlay a logo or image watermark, use the Edit PDF tool — upload your PDF, paste or draw your logo onto each page using the image overlay feature, adjust transparency, and download. For consistent placement across many pages, the text watermark tool is the faster option.

Does watermarking affect the text searchability of the PDF? +

No — the watermark is added as an additional layer on top of the existing page content. The original text layer, bookmarks, and hyperlinks remain intact and fully searchable. The PDF's text can still be selected, copied, and found using Ctrl+F in any PDF reader after watermarking.
